Project Manager Berths (Maritime Civil)


Our Client in Dover is looking for Project Manager Berths (Maritime Civil). This is a fixed term contract until approx. 2028 Benefits: 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), Private Health Care, Life assurance, Employee assistance programme, 3rd party discounts, benefit and reward platform Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 pa DOE Within this role you will manage a range of maritime civil infrastructure projects, both large and complex in nature and of a smaller scope and complexity. You will be delivering both company and maritime engineering capital projects and berth maintenance projects in a live operational environment. The projects will require a collaborative approach to be adopted between the project manager, framework consultants/contractors, construction contractors, operational teams and multiple stakeholders in the estate. Project Manager Berths (Maritime Civil) duties and responsibilities: * ensuring project strategic objectives are clearly defined and suitably documented in consultation with business and engineering leads and key stakeholders; * developing scopes of feasibility and options assessments that will further inform the development of scopes of design and technical requirements and specification on projects; * driving an early understanding of ‘Order of Cost Estimate’ (OCE) costs including input into both procurement and contracting strategies; * building development and detailed delivery programmes that are both resource and cost loaded, while identifying and analysing scenarios to inform decision making on projects; * undertaking, preparing, commissioning and managing scopes, designs, specifications, drawings, risk and environmental assessments for the execution of port related works which are to be carried out by contract; * acting in the capacity of ‘Project Manager’ under the NEC 3 or NEC 4 Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC) for projects; * managing health and safety on construction projects in line with current legislation and best practice and acting in the capacity of Principal Designer (under CDM2015) as and when appointed; * proactively and pragmatically problem solving technical and practical issues with contractors on site; * providing regular updates, forecasting and reporting on project status including pertinent financial information to the Programme Manager and others as required; * Liaising closely with the Asset and Document Control Teams on asset data and project close out processes and information and being responsible for receiving correct and completed QA / handover records from contractors; * liaising and communicating with Operations, contractors, port stakeholders and other outside parties as appropriate, to ensure that construction works are carried out with the minimum disturbance to operations; Project Manager Berths (Maritime Civil) knowledge and experience: * BSc/BEng (or above) in appropriate related technical discipline (Maritime civils infrastructure) * Project management qualification from APM or alternative relevant professional organisation or demonstratable project management experience. * Extensive experience of managing and delivering maritime civil infrastructure projects from inception through feasibility, design and implementation to project completion utilising the NEC suite of contracts, with a good knowledge of current legislation, technical standards and specifications. * Managing projects through the complete project lifecycle from inception to completion (and handover). * Fulfilling the role of Project Manager as defined under the NEC contracts. * Producing project budgets and managing costs against budget. * Ability to review and understand CAD drawings and technical specifications. * Full driving license and own transport with business insurance.
