Summary of Position:
Reporting directly to the Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer must be able to work independently and effectively within a team. The individual must be able to comply with all quality standards applicable to Westley Engineering, including an understanding of IATF & AS9100
The Quality Engineer will need to communicate effectively with other QA professionals, suppliers, and customers at all levels.
The role requires a hands-on engineer who can adapt to various situations, from day-to-day production inspections to customer PPAP documentation.
The role will be based primarily in Birmingham, but travel throughout the UK may be required.
Duties and Responsibilities:

You will work closely with the production team to audit their processes and assist them in reducing waste and non-conformities.

Complete first-off reports, initial sample inspection reports, and capability studies for both production and trial components.

Use and calibration of vernier calipers, micrometers, dial test indicators, slip gauges, height gauges, Go/No-Go gauges, etc.

Use of CMM, Shadow Graph, Keyence, Tensile Tester, and Spectrometer.

Help support the maintenance of the organisation's ISO registration, including conducting Internal Audits.

Drive and develop internal, supplier, customer, and third-party quality system audits.

Assist Quality Manager with any departmental activities

Assist with the continuous improvements for the business.

Ensure all Non-Conformances are actioned robustly and in a timely manner.

Ensure products flow through the quality department quickly and efficiently.

Monitor scrap and drive scrap reduction.s

Maintain and establish effective corrective action systems, effectively utilising core quality tools such as 8D and 5 Whys.

Manage, prepare, and submit customer-specific documentation relevant to PPAP.

Generate documentation to supply Aerospace products, including FAIRs and any in-production supporting documentation.

Experience in working within a small team and used to dealing with demanding OEM customers

Experience working within an Automotive/Aerospace environment

HNC or equivalent qualification

Proven background using core quality tools (APQP, SPC, MSA, FMEA & PPAP)

Strong knowledge of 8D and 5 Why analysis

Will have experience from within a high-volume manufacturing environment

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Focuses on customer satisfaction and delivers a quality service or product to the customer
Hours of work:
7 am - 4 pm Monday - Thursday
7 am - 12 pm Friday
