Qualified and Experienced Maintenance Engineer - Permanent Contract - No sponsorship offered Wellingborough £40,000 - £45,000 per annum Monday to Friday working We are proud to be supporting a well‑established manufacturing business in Wellingborough as they look to appoint an experienced Site Maintenance Engineer. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an organisation where you will play a key role in maintaining specialist production machinery and ensuring smooth day‑to‑day operations across the site. About the Role As a Site Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring all machinery and site services are maintained to the highest standard. You will carry out a mix of reactive and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in line with the company's maintenance schedule, ensuring minimal disruption to production. This is a hands‑on, multi‑skilled role requiring strong electrical and mechanical capability, excellent problem‑solving skills, and the ability to work independently. The position also includes travel to the company's Peterborough site every other week, using a company vehicle. Key Responsibilities Perform electrical and mechanical diagnostics, repairs, and PPM on all site machinery, including specialist production equipment. Respond promptly to machinery breakdowns, working closely with Production Managers and Supervisors to minimise downtime. Carry out machinery modifications, upgrades, and new installations as required Identify and rectify faults in a safe, efficient, and cost‑effective manner. Support general site maintenance including lighting, heating, and air systems across offices, factory areas, and outbuildings. Ensure all work complies with current legislation, regulations, and company quality standards. Liaise with external contractors. Assist with Health & Safety procedures and site compliance activities. Undertake project work and additional duties as reasonably required by the business. Travel to the Peterborough site every other week (company vehicle provided). Qualifications & Experience To be considered for this role candidates are required to have a NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and have previously worked within a maintenance role in a manufacturing or production environment. A full UK Driving Licence is also essential. Skills & Attributes - Personal skills and attributes for the role include the following Strong electrical engineering knowledge with solid mechanical understanding, including pneumatics Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem‑solving. Confident diagnosing faults on PLC, PC‑controlled, CNC, and automated machinery. Ability to work autonomously and prioritise tasks effectively. Comfortable working to deadlines in a fast‑paced production environment. Willingness to learn and contribute to continuous improvement.
