Freelance Construction Site Agent Location: Bedford Day Rate: £400 - £450 per day Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Freelance Construction Site Agent to support the delivery of highway construction and planned works schemes. You will play a key role in managing site operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to required quality and compliance standards. Key Responsibilities Manage and supervise construction schemes on-site, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant delivery Plan and coordinate labour, materials, plant, and subcontractor resources Liaise with key stakeholders including network managers, local authorities, designers, and community representatives Ensure Construction Phase Plans, method statements, and safe systems of work are implemented and adhered to Maintain high health, safety, environmental, and quality (HSEQ) standards at all times Ensure all personnel (direct and subcontract) are competent and appropriately trained Take responsibility for the commercial performance of schemes, working closely with commercial teams Maintain accurate site records, including diaries, progress updates, resource allocation, and as-built documentation Support programme development, phasing plans, and construction methodologies Develop and maintain strong working relationships with supply chain partners Contribute to buildability reviews, Early Contractor Involvement, and traffic management planning Participate in value engineering and value management processes Ensure compliance with organisational procedures, standards, and reporting requirements Skills & Experience Required Qualifications IOSH or SMSTS (essential) CSCS card (essential) HNC / Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline (desirable) Full UK Driving Licence Key Competencies Strong commitment to health & safety and safe delivery practices Effective communicator and team collaborator Ability to manage and control costs within agreed budgets Strong organisational and problem-solving skills Proactive and innovative approach to improving processes and delivery Working Arrangement Freelance / contract position Site-based role in Bedford Expected to manage multiple concurrent workstreams depending on project scope
