Yard Operative

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and market-leading business within the equipment rental and engineering sector. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven and reliable Yard Operative to join a busy depot operation, supporting the movement, preparation, and organisation of specialist equipment. This role would suit someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in keeping things organised, and understands the importance of health & safety and high operational standards. The Role As Yard Operative, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the depot, ensuring equipment is prepared, checked, and ready for customer hire. Responsibilities will include: * Loading, unloading, and moving equipment safely around the yard * Cleaning, inspecting, and preparing equipment for hire * Carrying out basic pre-hire checks and reporting any damage or faults * Organising the yard and maintaining high housekeeping standards * Assisting with goods in/out and stock control * Supporting workshop and depot teams when required * Ensuring all work is completed in line with health & safety procedures What We’re Looking For To be successful, you should have: * Previous experience working in a yard, warehouse, workshop, plant hire, tool hire, or similar environment * A Counterbalance Forklift licence is essential * A strong work ethic and positive attitude * Good organisational skills and attention to detail * Ability to work effectively as part of a team What’s On Offer * Basic salary up to £30,000 * 6% company pension contribution * 23 days holiday + bank holidays * Ongoing training and development * Genuine long-term career progression If you’re looking for a hands-on role with long-term prospects and the chance to work for an industry leader, we’d love to hear from you
