Design Manager – Construction Salary: Up to £80,000 Start: ASAP Type: Full-time, Permanent Overview Barrwall Recruitment Group is partnering with a respected main contractor to recruit an experienced Design Manager. This organisation delivers high-quality construction projects and requires a technically strong, proactive Design Manager to lead design coordination from pre-construction through to project completion. Key Responsibilities * Manage and oversee the full design process to ensure compliance, buildability, and technical accuracy. * Coordinate effectively with consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure timely design delivery. * Support tender and pre-construction stages through technical reviews, design assessments, and risk management. * Lead design workshops, progress meetings and design reviews to maintain clarity and direction across all disciplines. * Identify design risks, interface issues, and opportunities for value engineering. * Ensure all design documentation aligns with regulations, standards and health & safety requirements. * Provide ongoing technical support to the construction team during delivery. * Build strong working relationships with project stakeholders and design partners. Requirements * Proven experience as a Design Manager within a UK main contractor environment. * Strong knowledge of building regulations, construction techniques and industry standards. * Excellent communication, coordination and leadership abilities. * Ability to manage multiple design packages and deadlines simultaneously. * Proficiency with design and construction software and document management systems. * A collaborative mindset with a detail-driven, solution-focused approach.
