Health & Safety Officer Location: Clay Cross, Chesterfield, Site-based role Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Dependant on experience Working Hours: 35 hours per week (8:30am – 4:30pm or 9:00am – 5:00pm) Benefits: * 24 days holiday (increasing up to 26 days with service) * Company pension (up to 7% company contribution) * Life insurance * Employee Assistance Programme * Health cash plan * Employee benefits platform (retailer and gym discounts) * Company events including Christmas party and staff BBQ We are looking for a proactive and hands-on Health & Safety Officer to join the team, working closely alongside the H&S Manager and wider leadership group. This role will have a strong operational focus, supporting day-to-day health and safety activities across site while helping to drive a positive safety culture and continuous improvement. Responsibilities: * Support the delivery of health & safety objectives with the H&S Manager * Work closely with site leadership and operational teams to implement and maintain action plans * Monitor H&S performance, tracking KPIs and recommending improvements where required * Assist in the implementation and maintenance of safety and environmental management systems * Ensure adherence to company policies, legal requirements, and regulatory standards * Review and update risk assessments, ensuring they remain accurate and effective * Provide practical guidance to managers and teams on H&S matters * Attend and contribute to site meetings, actively encouraging engagement from key stakeholders * Support and occasionally lead health & safety meetings * Promote a culture of accountability and challenging where necessary * Take a hands-on approach, getting involved in day-to-day site activity and supporting the wider team Skills/Experience required: We’re looking for someone who is confident, approachable, and able to build strong working relationships across all levels of the business. You will be comfortable managing multiple priorities, working independently, and influencing others to drive positive safety behaviours. You will be working closely with the H&S Manager, alongside key stakeholders across the site, including operations and leadership teams. The role requires someone who is visible and able to support a team-focused culture. Essential: * NEBOSH General Certificate * Previous experience within a manufacturing environment * Strong communication skills with the confidence to engage and influence stakeholders * Experience conducting and reviewing risk assessments * Ability to prioritise workload and manage competing tasks * Proactive, hands-on approach with a willingness to get involved Desirable: * Environmental qualifications * IOSH certification * Additional compliance or risk-related qualifications
