Employment & Skills Support Worker Location: Cardiff, Gwent, Merthyr Permanent Hours: 22.5 hours per week As the Employment & Skills Support Worker, you will provide one-to-one and group-based support to adults and young people, helping them overcome barriers and work towards independence and sustainable employment. You will: Offer tailored, person-centred support to help individuals access education, work experience, skills training, and volunteering. Support service users with CV building, interview preparation, job searching, applications, and digital skills. Work alongside local employers, training providers, colleges, job centres, and community partners to create opportunities. Build positive, trusting relationships with the Gypsies and Travellers community, promoting empowerment, equality, and self-confidence. Advocate on behalf of individuals facing discrimination or structural barriers to employment. Maintain accurate case records and contribute to monitoring and evaluation of the programme. Help develop group workshops, outreach sessions, and confidence-building activities. What We’re Looking For Experience supporting people into employment, training or education (e.g. employability, youth work, housing support, careers guidance). An understanding of the challenges and discrimination faced by Gypsy and Traveller communities. A person-centred, culturally respectful and strengths-based approach. Strong relationship-building and communication skills. Ability to work independently, manage a caseload, and travel to sites across the region.
